Some fun ideas for Hot Chocolate

If you were able to attend the Mona Williams holiday party last night, you would know we love hot chocolate!  Patric’s favorite is the Hot White Cocoa, while several others prefer the classic Hot Cocoa.  The one thing we all agree on is hot cocoa is great on its own, but it is even better with a few additions.  Here are some suggestions to spice up that classic mug of hot cocoa:

Booze:  This seems like a no brainer, we love to Kentucky it up with some bourbon, but also try Frangelico, Kahlua, peppermint schnapps, or even one of the flavored vodkas (vanilla, for example)

Peanut Butter:  stir in a small spoonful of peanut butter to replicate a classic peanut butter cup

Caramel:  Drizzle a little caramel sauce for a decadent treat

Marshmallow Fluff:  Everyone loves marshmallows in their hot chocolate, but try marshmallow fluff, it will melt and give you that incredible marshmallow flavor with every sip

Cinnamon:  Stir with a cinnamon stick or add some ground cinnamon to your cup for a spicy treat

Ice Cream:  Say what?  Cold ice cream in hot chocolate?  Try this once and you will never go back, the addition of a scoop of vanilla (or a flavor of your choice) ice cream will make the drink get rich and creamy and thick like if you could have a hot milk shake. Amazing!

Mona Williams has amazing hot cocoa from The Cocoa Company if you are looking for a great one, but know that these tricks work with any hot cocoa.

Did we miss any add ins?  We certainly would love to hear your suggestions and we will taste test them for sure!
