You might use the time you were going to spend shopping to try one of my favorite holiday treats.  When I was growing up, my parents had several holiday parties during the season.  The time of day dictated the menu of course, but in addition to holiday cakes and cookies there were always sausage balls.  My mom generally served them hot from the oven, but truthfully, I prefer them at room temperature.  When you make them, the aroma will make you want to taste them immediately, but save a few back and try them when they have cooled.  Either way, these taste like Christmas to me

6 cups Bisquick

4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 pound hot sausage (room temp)

1 pound mild sausage (room temp)

4 tablespoons water (if needed)

Mix first 4 ingredients in stand mixer until combined.  If the mixture is too dry to stick together, add water 1 tablespoon at a time, up to 4 tablespoons.

Shape into 1 ½ inch balls and place on cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray.

Bake at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

*My mom notes that this makes a large quantity, but she always froze them and then reheated in the oven as she needed them.

Remember, today is the last day that our entire list gets the advent calendar.  If you want to continue click HERE to sign up to continue receiving it.
